I teamed up with my good friend and pro windsurfer Dean Christener to shoot some freestyle windsurfing images at sunset. I dragged out an old ladder about 100yrds off shore to get a higher angle off the water keep the spray off the lens port.
The light was perfect, the wind steady, and dean was ripping.

I received a last minute phone call from my good friend Nick Schlag to join him aboard the Jay Hawk and go explore and dive the south coast of Lanai. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. We left Lahina Harbor at dawn and enjoyed an easy crossing across the Auau channel.
The afternoon forecasts predicted light trades in the 10-20 mph range, but nature had other plans. The usually tranquil and glassy south coast of Lanai was a furry of white caps. The wind was easily 25mph with gusts pushing thirty. After searching for a good dive spot protected from the wind, we ended up anchoring and diving at Kaumalapau Harbor to escape rough conditions.
The dive was beautiful. Majestic underwater cliffs, a plethora of different fish species, and decent visibility given the conditions. On the way back towards Maui, we were greeted by a group of 20-50 Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins. Spinner Dolphins are amazingly curious and playful creatures. At one point we had a group of 8 dolphins riding our bow and frolicking in our wake. Overall, it was an amazing day, and I could not ask for a more perfect place to call home.
